aquatherm green ensures drinking water quality in Dubai's newest landmark
The "Atlantis – The Royal" in Dubai describes itself as the most luxurious resort in the world - and this is likely no exaggeration. The rooms, suites, and penthouses offer unparalleled luxury, while the pools, shopping experience, and gourmet dining options ensure a truly exception stay.
"Atlantis – The Royal" boasts remarkable dimensions: 43 floors, an area of 406,000 square metres, a length of 500 metres, and a height of 178 metres. Added to this is its spectacular architecture of stacked blocks that offer unique views of the Arabian Gulf and the artificial island of "The Palm". The structure consists of two buildings connected by a bridge – the hotel tower in the west and the residential tower in the east. To ensure seamless water supply throughout all hotel and residential areas, aquatherm green was chosen, specifically engineered to withstand the unique challenges present on-site. The central heating system, which feeds the drinking water structure of the entire complex, requires constant operation with high water temperatures throughout the network. Therefore, special attention had to be paid to the right piping series for this application. SPECON, which is responsible for the MEP planning, was looking for a piping material for the "Atlantis – The Royal" that would withstand the aggressive water of the region. In addition, the maintenance costs of the piping system should be low, according to the MEP consultant.
Around 93 kilometres of aquatherm green in different sizes
SPECON decided to use aquatherm green for the drinking water network in "Atlantis – The Royal". In cooperation with aquatherm partner Al Sahoo Trading Co., based in Dubai, and aquatherm's planning department in Attendorn, Germany, it was possible to meet all the requirements placed on the piping system. Short delivery times, technical support and product installation training accelerated the installation of the system. Since 2018, Alsahoo has supplied more than 185,000 aquatherm pipes and fittings for the project. Around 93 kilometres of aquatherm green in different sizes were used.
The MEP planner was particularly impressed by the connection technology of aquatherm pipes and fittings: Thanks to plastic welding, a fast and secure connection is created, which also shortens the installation time. Like all aquatherm products, aquatherm green is made of the corrosion-resistant and recyclable material polypropylene, which is characterised by its durability. The outstanding chemical resistance, minimal pipe roughness, and exceptional impact strength make this pipe an advantageous choice. In addition, it is odourless, tasteless, and completely free of heavy metals and toxic chemicals.
