"Aquascope" water park opens with aquatherm green installed in its cold water supply.
The "Futuroscope" in Chasseneuil-du-Poitou, located in western France, blends science and entertainment. This amusement park focuses on future media technologies and features over 40 rides, shows, and interactive experiences for the entire family. The newest addition to the park is the "Aquascope," an immersive water park that recently opened with an investment of approximately 60 million euros. A key component of this attraction is the use of aquatherm green.
Covering about 12,000 m², the "Aquascope" features a 700 m² building housing its various attractions and facilities. The park is divided into three main areas:
- The Water Sports Zone: Offers fun and activities for guests of all ages.
- The Action Area: Includes a wave pool, water whirlpools, and eight thrilling slides for solo and group adventures.
- The Immersion Zone: Transports visitors to different water worlds with attractions like a water cinema and a 3D underwater experience.
In addition, an outdoor section with a beach and swimming pool provides a perfect setting for summer relaxation.
Optimal conditions thanks to high-quality piping
The water park can accommodate up to 1,500 visitors daily, with an additional 200 during the summer due to the outdoor area. To ensure optimal conditions for these guests, high-quality pipework was a priority. aquatherm green was selected for the cold water supply to the sanitary facilities and technical control room. Made from corrosion-resistant and recyclable polypropylene, aquatherm green is known for its durability. Key benefits include excellent chemical resistance, low pipe roughness, and high impact strength. Additionally, aquatherm green is lighter than metal, reducing the need for cranes during transport and simplifying installation with its socket or butt welding processes, which also saves time.
BE Fluide Artélia installed the piping system with diameters ranging from 20 to 160 mm. The company selected this product for its quality, reliability, and lightweight properties. They also took advantage of aquatherm's prefabrication capabilities: various pipe bends between 75 and 160 mm were pre-produced at the factory and delivered to the construction site ready for installation, significantly saving time.
Another advantage of aquatherm green is its alignment with "Futuroscope's" commitment to sustainability and its goal of achieving a net-zero carbon footprint by 2025. To achieve this, the new water park will feature solar panels covering a large portion of the parking area, along with geothermal energy and a water treatment and recovery system. aquatherm green complements this sustainability strategy due to its ecological properties. Studies indicate that polypropylene pipes produce significantly lower CO2 emissions compared to other materials, such as steel. aquatherm has conducted an ISO-compliant life cycle assessment for four of its product lines, including aquatherm green, which has been verified by an independent institute. The Environmental Product Declarations from these assessments confirm that aquatherm products have a lower ecological footprint compared to other systems.
